    Application for admission to Graduate Studies is a multi-step process. Each graduate program sets its own application deadline.
    The application process may take several weeks to complete; you should apply well in advance of the deadline to ensure adequate time to submit all required items.
    After you apply, keep up with it all by monitoring your mySFA account.

    Step 1: Complete the Online Application

    Please note that applications can take 2-3 business days to load to the Stephen F. Austin State University system after submission of the application form.
     

    Monitor mySFA

    MySFA offers applicants secure, individualized information from initial application submission to the final admission decision and beyond. Use it to track the receipt of submitted application materials, to upload required supporting documents, to confirm that your application file is complete, and to get your decision. 

    After you submit your online application, you’ll receive an email (within 2-3 business days) that will provide you with mySFA login information. 

    Check it often—your checklist will reflect any missing items from your application file.



     

    Step 2: Pay the Application Fee

    Pay your $50 non-refundable application fee by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express accepted) or electronic check. You will pay your application fee via your mySFA account 2-3 business days after submission of the application form.

    If you click on the Application Fee Payment hyperlink and receive a message stating "Our records indicate you do not owe a payment at this time," we are still working to process and charge the fee to your account. 


     

    Step 3: Submit Official Transcripts

    Please request that an official transcript be sent directly to Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA).

    • Master’s Applicants: Submit an official transcript from the institution where your undergraduate degree was awarded.

    • Doctoral Applicants: Submit an official transcript from the institution where your master’s degree was awarded.

    Transcripts may be submitted in one of the following ways:

    • Electronically: Sent via secure platforms such as Parchment or by email to gschool@sfasu.edu
